A biscuit from a good heart

Samen voor Eindhoven and the bakers of the bakery of the Groendomein 't Wasven have joined forces. As part of the campaign 'Heartwarming Together', biscuits are baked in the shape of a heart. People buy two packs of biscuits in the shop, one for themselves and the other for lonely elderly people in Eindhoven. In cooperation with the Katholieke Bond Ouderen (KBO), these heart-shaped biscuits eventually reach the elderly.

Maaike de Jonge, intermediary at Samen voor Eindhoven: Together for Eindhoven wants to build a bridge between companies, social organisations and the local government. Companies can donate time and money so that we can support social organisations and local projects. Think of it as an interaction. Just doing something for someone else makes the world a bit more beautiful."

Rudi van der Schoot is a baker at the bakery of 't Wasven. Or as Van der Schoot puts it himself: "I try to steer the baking in the right direction." The heart biscuits were his idea. Van der Schoot: "I am always looking for new ideas to offer our participants a meaningful daytime activity. Especially in these times, that is quite a challenge. Our participants are people with a distance to the labour market who work with our craftsmen. By now, we have sold 100 bags of biscuits and we hope to sell many more. All our products have a sticker on them that says 'Prepared with care'. And that is exactly right, we bake with attention and care, 100% organic. We are proud of our people and what we do here together.

The award-winning golden heart biscuits can be purchased from the bakery of Groendomein Wasven.
