Give a coat and warm a heart

People living in a crisis situation do not have it easy in winter. Unfortunately, more and more people in the Netherlands are living below the poverty line. With the collection campaign 'give a coat and warm a heart', the power of Brainport Eindhoven is visible again: together we help those in need. Even famous statues in Eindhoven are participating. Have you spotted Frits and Anton Philips and the statues at the PSV stadium wearing warm knitted scarves and hats? Residents of various Archipel Woonzorggroep locations knit orange scarves and hats for charity.

From October 3 to 19, 2022 we again collected warm men's, women's or children's coats in various locations in Eindhoven for people who need it badly. Over 1,800 coats were collected! Families with money worries, young newcomers, homeless people, people who live in poverty and for whom buying a warm winter coat is not obvious, receive the coats.

Everyone coulddonate pre-loved coats but also hats, gloves and scarves. All in good condition and washed.

The 2022 collection points have been closed since Oct. 20, 2022.

This way it ends up quick and local and we make Brainport Eindhoven region winterproof.

What garments?

The focus is on warm coats, of good quality and washed clean. Worn, pre-loved, is of course fine.

There are also a number of other garments that will keep you dry when you are out on the streets:

  • Warm Jackets (for men, women and children)
  • Hats, gloves and scarves (for men, women and children)
  • Rainwear (especially for homeless men)
  • Sweaters/vests/jeans (for young refugees and gentlemen on the street)
A warm greeting

The new owner also finds a handwritten card inside the coat in October. Mike Weerts also handed in a card with his warm coat: 'Dear new wearer of my coat. I hope you enjoy it but most of all warmth! Mike Weerts'.
