Give a coat, warm a heart

Successful fundraiser for vulnerable people

Eindhoven winter-proof
The number of homeless people in and around Eindhoven is increasing. Life on the streets and with a limited social network is tough. The Foundation Together for Eindhoven collected clothing for this vulnerable group of people with the action 'Give a coat and warm a heart'. On Tuesday, 7 November, over 1,000 items of clothing were distributed to the clothing bank, Salvation Army, Experience that stands, Inloophuis 't Hemeltje, Neos and Dress for Success.Together for Eindhoven collected clothing with the cooperation of its partners; Banning Advocaten, Eurest, Viggo, NXP semiconductors, Municipality of Eindhoven, Holland Casino Eindhoven, High Tech Campus and Rabobank Eindhoven-Veldhoven. From winter jackets to suits, from hats to children's clothes. One in five children in Eindhoven lives below the poverty line. This vulnerable group literally and figuratively deserves extra warmth.

Additional support

The action was spontaneously embraced by more Eindhoven companies. Extra collection help came from Boels Zanders Lawyers, HC Oranje-Rood, Severinus and café 't Rozenknopje. At Treffina, the sorting and distribution took place on Tuesday 7 November. "This score is overwhelming" says Anna-Geertje van Eert from Samen voor Eindhoven. "Coats that were not collected from the lost & found department at Eindhoven Airport in recent weeks have been collected by Viggo. We were hoping for at least 80 children's coats, 25 women's coats, 240 men's coats, 200 warm winter coats for the homeless and various warm jumpers and gloves as well as suits to apply for jobs. More than 1,000 items is literally heart-warming".

Companies join forces for Eindhoven

Samen voor Eindhoven connects companies and society. Anna-Geertje: "We arrange that employees of companies can commit themselves in an easy and effective way to a social goal. And to give substance to their social entrepreneurship in the right way. We know the questions and challenges of society and match them with the wishes of the companies".
