Impact Report 2019

"Through insight into our current work process to a desired process and appropriate system. At our pace and in our language! Thank you ICS and Together for Eindhoven for this supermatch!"

Judith, director Vrijwilliger Hulpdienst Eindhoven

What was your best match in 2019? My goosebumps moment...
My "goosebumps moment" last year was with Chantal from Finance Workshop, an organization that helps people in debt get out. Chantal participated in our Community Coach Program last year. This means that for 9 months she was coached by an employee of one of the clients of Samen voor Eindhoven, in this case at Philips.
I spoke to Chantal during the evaluation of the program and she touched me by her story and what the cooperation between two worlds - business & society - has brought about in her and her Philips coach.

Then hear Luc from PwC and Paul from DLL talk about what coaching has done to them. And read here how cleaning company ICS Group coached the Vrijwilliger Hulpdienst Eindhoven (VHE) on LEAN and IT expertise. Judith, director of the VHE says: "Via insight into our current work process to a desired process and appropriate system. At our pace and in our language! Thank you ICS and Samen voor Eindhoven for this supermatch!" I am so proud of the coaching duos and the impact this program has had on everyone, including myself!

Bridge builder
Other than that, things seem to be going well in Eindhoven. The Brainport region shows fine growth figures and is the smartest region in the world. Yet there is a large group of people who do not recognize this and who cannot fully participate in our society. The gap between these worlds is huge. We see this every day when we commute back and forth on our bicycles between the companies and social organizations and engage in conversation with them. More than 10% of Eindhoven's residents, many of whom are families with children, live below the poverty line! How is that possible in our beautiful prosperous Brainport? Together for Eindhoven is doing everything possible to bridge this gap, as seen in the 2019 Impact Monitor. Our opinion and input became visible in a full-page ED opinion piece.

Thank you for your support!
Fortunately, more and more companies, like your company, are contributing to a more vital and cohesive region with Together for Eindhoven. In a time of growing divisions, we bring people together. And it works, because 84% of the employees who participate gain a better understanding of the target group and social issues.

Thank you for trusting us and thank you that we will work together again in 2020. And a special thanks to our growing network of committed founders and 'fans': ASML Foundation, DLL, DELA Fonds, Municipality of Eindhoven, HTCE, Holland Casino, NXP, Rabobank, Philips, RHDHV, Signify and Woonbedrijf.

Highlights and trends 2019

  1. Milestone: the 10,000th employee gets involved
Since its foundation, Samen voor Eindhoven has been creating a movement in Brainport where employees put their talent, knowledge or hands to work for a closer society in which everyone can participate. Last year we reached the milestone of the 10,000th employee participating. On average, we are growing by 31% per year.
  2. Attractive Employer: Doing Good Makes You Happy
A great trend in our industry, is to work more and more with a company's "Happy People manager. After all, research shows that volunteering is indeed an effective means of achieving job happiness. As many as 94% of volunteers have a better mood, 76% feel healthier and 78% have their stress levels reduced. Just listen to what Ilse, manager at Rabobank, talks about the impact on her employees and engagement scores.
  3. Investment in digital platform for better ease of use & impact reporting
To ensure a perfect experience of the users of our digital platform, we listened carefully to them during special sessions. Last year we invested heavily in our IT system (Salesforce CRM) to work and scale up even more effectively, and will continue to do so in the coming year with the support of NXP. We also implemented dashboards last year with support from Philips expertise and a consultant from TalentPeaks. As a result, we now have insight into the processes at all times and can make beautiful impact reports for our customers.

WE, SAMEN, has proven to be a successful formula, and I hope we will continue to make great connections together in the coming year. Because ... what we have achieved together is a great start, but only the beginning of a much bigger dream. I still see a hefty mismatch between what companies want and offer and what the demand is in the social domain. Giving your time to be meaningful to another is an investment and takes a long haul.

We call on companies and even more employees to increase their job happiness by sharing their time and talent with those who need it. This goes hand in hand with the healthy self-interest of companies to attract and retain top talent in the region. This, on the one hand, makes your company an attractive employer with feel-good employees and, on the other hand, leads to a livable city where everyone matters and is allowed to participate.

SAVE THE DATE: Hopefully we will see each other again at the annual Partner Event that we are organizing this year with the cooperation of Erasmus University on Monday afternoon, June 29, 2020 at our partner HTCE.
