Learning from volunteering

VIGGO: partner of Samen voor Eindhoven

Viggo Eindhoven has recently become a partner of Samen voor Eindhoven (Together for Eindhoven). Last Friday, the company had its first team outing. During their One Day for Eindhoven, a number of employees went to help out at Heimdal, a children's day centre for children with a mental or multiple disability. Together with the children and their supervisors, they visited Robeco's mobile children's farm.
They visited the mobile children's farm run by Roel's Beestenboel.

Viggo Eindhoven takes care of the handling of passengers, baggage and air freight at Eindhoven Airport. A good service is of paramount importance. However, the company also considers it important to make a contribution to society. To mean something for others.
"That fits in with our way of working. We want to offer our employees the opportunity to gain new experiences," says Hans-Bart Olijhoek, "to experience how it feels to contribute to the welfare of another person. People who give and share are usually happier. That is why we would like to introduce our employees to voluntary work.
That way, they not only get a glimpse of someone else's life, but they also get to know each other better. Because of their disability, it is not easy for the children of Heimdal to go to a regular petting zoo. The mobile petting zoo run by Roel's Beestenboel offers a solution. It's nice to see that people with a disability can still enjoy life, especially through the efforts of the supervisors," says Joy Neggs.
Joy Neggers, one of Viggo's employees, says. Carina van der Veen also enjoyed it: "This is rewarding work. You learn that not everything is self-evident. We can learn something from people with a disability".
