Partner event 2019 Happy Employees & Global Goals

With our 100 corporate and community partners (over 2,000 volunteers each year), we contribute to a global mission

During the annual partner event (this year on March 14) at the High Tech Campus, we shared inspiration and knowledge about the latest developments and trends in corporate volunteering. We talked about how corporate volunteering contributes to higher engagement scores and 'Happy People'. And of course to a better world and contributing to the Global Goals.

As good neighbors, companies dedicate time and talent of their employees to the Eindhoven community. These include ASML, Coöperatie DELA, CTOUCH, DAF, DLL, Holland Casino Eindhoven, Signify, Philips, Rabobank Eindhoven-Veldhoven and NXP. The number of corporate volunteers we activated in 2018 grew by 70% in two years. The ambition is to help even more vulnerable people in Eindhoven and beyond.

With companies on global mission

Over 2,000 corporate volunteers are thus contributing to achieving the sustainable development goals. In the Eindhoven region and at the same time worldwide. The United Nations has set 17 Sustainable Development Goals for 2015 to 2030. These goals apply to all people in all countries and must, for example, eradicate extreme poverty, inequality, injustice and climate change. Every volunteer activity organized by Samen voor Eindhoven contributes to one or more sustainable goals. 'For example, communication professionals spent one day applying their expertise to a concrete issue of the Ervaring die Staat foundation. A foundation for and by homeless people in our city who want to fight poverty, one of the 17 sustainable development goals,' explains Judith Helderman, intermediary in engaged entrepreneurship at Samen voor Eindhoven. 'Together with Ervaring die Staat, communication expressions were developed in one day for various city workshops that they use to further develop talents of the homeless. A very valuable and practical result'.

Corporate social responsibility contributes to job happiness

'To mean something for another makes life meaningful. Any action, no matter how small, can change the life of another and yourself. Corporate volunteering is therefore a very effective means of achieving job happiness. We find that the vast majority of employees want their work to be useful to society. The activities we organize with companies and foundations fit in well with that. Every volunteer activity makes an impact, and together we work towards the UN world goals' says Judith Helderman.
