Construction company DE MEEUW renovates schoolyard Mytylschool Eindhoven

"The team of DE MEEUW has proven once again: when professionals in the Eindhoven region put their talent, knowledge, heart and hands into it for one day ... it works!

The Mytylschool is a school for pupils aged 4 to 20 with a functional disability. They offer pupils customised education, care and guidance. They do this together with the parents and/or carers of the pupils and the partners with whom they work. The spring sun did its utmost when an enthusiastic team of eight colleagues of Bouwbedrijf DE MEEUW from Oirschot went to work at the Mytylschool in Eindhoven Noord on Wednesday 18 April.

DE MEEUW had offered their help in preparing the school playground for the summer via Samen voor Eindhoven. It soon became clear that this was quite a job. So much had to be done that it was decided to tackle a number of tasks in one day. On this sunny (even hot) day, the courtyard has been tidied up by removing the boxwood hedge, the schoolyard has a beautiful sitting area again because the leaf litter has been removed and the area has been cleaned, a leaf basket has been made so that also in the future the leaf litter can be disposed of conveniently and also the playground equipment has been cleaned up and is ready to be used! While the colleagues of DE MEEUW, team leader Monique Gijsberts and caretakers Jo van Eeten and Cees van Poppel were hard at work, the pupils of the Mytylschool prepared a delicious lunch. Photographer Gytha Steenhoven was also present as a volunteer to take beautiful pictures of this very valuable day.

Monique Gijsbers, De Mytylschool: "What a team! Yesterday, our school grounds were given a thorough facelift by a group of employees from De Meeuw, including photographer Gytha Steenhoven, who had volunteered for the job. It was an enthusiastic, and above all hard-working, group of people. A nice mix of different functions from the company, who didn't all know each other, which created a kind of teambuilding feeling. For us, it was very nice to be able to see and hear this during lunch. It took some hard work, because the sun was burning in the sky, and the jobs were tough, but the result is beautiful! We are impressed by the end result, the energy, the fun, the interaction with our children and with each other. This day was a success for everyone, and our pupils will enjoy it for a long time to come. De Meeuw and Samen voor Eindhoven, thank you very much!".

Maaike van Willigen, De Meeuw: "On the first summer day in April, volunteering with eight colleagues at the Mytylschool in Eindhoven was really great fun! Our task was to renovate part of the grounds/schoolyard around the school. After a few hours of hard work, the result was clearly visible: the patio was free of boxwood, a leaf basket had been placed, the long jump track and the "fire pit" had been refurbished. The children of the school had in turn prepared a delicious lunch for us. Besides the enormous appreciation we received from the school, I found it a very nice experience to do this together with colleagues. We got to know each other better, learned more about each other's work and gained more understanding for each other. In short, a top day with top colleagues!"

Jos Smetsers, De Meeuw: "I had a very nice day yesterday, the weather was perfect, and especially the happy faces of the director, the staff and not to forget the children was very nice. A good team is half the battle and is certainly worth repeating."

Henry Schellekens, De Meeuw: "What a beautiful charity we have chosen, when you see the reaction of the director it makes me happy. It's also nice to see that three pupils helped out. It was fun and we have done a lot of work. Especially the seating area has been done up nicely."

Jos Spierings, De Meeuw: "It was a great day's work, especially with the colleagues to contribute in this way to the refurbishment of the playground of the Mytylschool. It's worth repeating.

Eric Koenraads, De Meeuw: "It was a nice, beautiful day and I got a lot of satisfaction out of being able to do something for the school. Especially the pit that has been refurbished is very satisfying. It shows that you can help your fellow man in a relatively simple way. A good initiative by De Meeuw. It's also great to be able to work with the various disciplines at De Meeuw. It's worth repeating.
