Heartwarming encounters between senior citizens and corporate volunteers

Christmas is something you celebrate together. But many residents of residential care facilities receive few visits from family or friends. As much as 20% (420,000 elderly) of the elderly do not celebrate Christmas and New Year's Eve. Over 10% of the elderly (200,000 elderly) in the Netherlands are without visitors during the holidays. The world is small for these people in care institutions. They are less mobile and it is physically or mentally difficult for them to go out on their own. Because of this limitation, social isolation is lurking. And that is why, with the efforts of our company volunteers, we give these people extra attention especially during the Christmas period. In November and December, hundreds of employees from companies including ASML, DLL and Philips gave vitamin A(and attention) to clients of Archipel and Vitalis Woonzorg. While admiring the cozy Christmas department at Coppelmans or De Bijenkorf together, it's about being together with attention for each other. And having fun, which is guaranteed with Christmas tree decorating or a Christmas bingo.
