Half-year results: strong increase in corporate volunteering

"Volunteer Bridget put her communication skills to work for a foundation and shares her experience, "Life consists of more than just making money. I am very aware of that now. I get a feeling of happiness when I have new experiences, get to see new places and can do something for someone else."

More and more companies are volunteering their employees

The Brainport region shows fine growth figures and has been named the smartest region. Yet there is a large group that does not experience this as such. As a result, the gap between these two worlds is wide. But there is a positive outlook: the number of corporate volunteers mediated by Samen voor Eindhoven last year grew by no less than 70% in two years!

Business volunteers play an indispensable role in bringing these two worlds together. And we encourage that. Think of a business coach who shares his/her knowledge and network with a social organization. Or someone who gives communication advice. Doing a job with teams from companies or doing something extra for a vulnerable target group. In the fall, together with our founders from the network and the municipality, we collect warm winter coats for all homeless people in the city.

More job happiness and understanding for others

The number of corporate volunteers mediated by Samen voor Eindhoven grew 70% in two years, as mentioned above. That's over 2,000 employees and thus a substantial increase. But we are not there yet. The demand from the social field is much greater. The ambition is to help even more vulnerable people in the Brainport region. It also delivers a lot to the corporate volunteer. Doing something for someone else gives a happy and meaningful feeling.

Research shows that volunteering is actually an effective means of achieving job happiness. As many as 94% of volunteers have a better mood, 76% feel healthier and for 78% volunteering lowers stress levels

In addition, 86% of volunteers also gain a better understanding of the target group and the social issue. It is precisely from this vision that togetherness emerges: connection with business, the municipality and the social field.

By working better and better together, we are convinced that we contribute to issues such as poverty and loneliness. And create a society in which everyone can participate.

Every day, Samen voor Eindhoven connects the (high-tech) companies of this region with foundations and charities working for vulnerable people. Because together we ensure that everyone can participate. Among others NXP, DLL, ASML, DELA fund, Woonbedrijf, Royal Haskoning DHV, DAF, Holland Casino Eindhoven, High Tech Campus, Signify, Philips, Rabobank Eindhoven-Veldhoven and Rabobank NL are affiliated with the Foundation Together for Eindhoven and give their employees time to volunteer.

The global goals: working together on a global mission for a better society

Both in the region and worldwide, we are working to build a closer society. Together with business, the municipality and civil society organizations. The United Nations has drawn up 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through these goals, we contribute concretely to a better world. With these SDGs we speak the same language worldwide. This allows us to work better together and achieve these common goals: fighting (extreme) poverty, inequality, injustice and climate change, among others. Every volunteer activity organized by Samen voor Eindhoven contributes to one or more SDGs.
