The impact of corporate volunteering for community organizations

Connecting community organizations and businesses is what we do. We value the quality of these collaborations and improve what is possible. This way we all make even more impact. We recently conducted a study on the impact of employee volunteering on social partners and the cooperation with Samen voor Eindhoven.

Key insights from this study:

  • The most commonly cited effects of using corporate volunteers for community partners:
    • The 1-on-1 attention that corporate volunteers give;
    • The extras for the target group / organisation (that cannot be given or done otherwise);
    • Gathering new knowledge for the organisation;
    • Jobs / projects that get done (and would otherwise remain unfinished);
    • The win-win situation. Company volunteers help the organisation, but also get something in return.
  • Side effects for civil society organizations:
    • One-off contact with the company volunteers and the organisation;
    • Receiving knowledge that does not quite fit the organisation;
    • Company volunteers do not know the social organisation well enough or have not explored it enough.
  • 82% of CSOs indicated that the network has been enlarged by the cooperation with Together for Eindhoven.
  • The average rating for the services of Together for Eindhoven from civil society organizations is an 8.1:
    • 95% of CSOs indicated that they would recommend the activities of Together for Eindhoven to other CSOs.
  • Civil society organizations will especially need in the future:
    • Regular activities (monthly team activity). Not only in the December months, but spread throughout the year;
    • Adoption of a long-term project.

Now what?

Connecting to the needs of social partners is a priority for us. With this research we show what is going on in the social field so that we can make companies' needs even clearer. With the insights and needs gained from the survey, we improve our services. So that in the future - together with the companies - we can make an even better contribution to the wishes and needs of the target groups and social organizations.
